Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab has admitted that the long-delayed Red Line BRT project will now require an additional two years to complete.
Speaking on Express News’ programme Power Cast with host Faisal Hussain, Wahab expressed regret over the prolonged delays. “The delay in the Red Line project is a matter of embarrassment,” he stated, adding that the company overseeing the project has informed him that two more years are needed to finish the work.
In a separate development, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has begun repair work on the KPT flyover, leading to its closure for one month, according to traffic police officials.
Barriers have been installed to block access, and the repair work will be executed in three phases, covering different portions of the bridge.
Traffic heading from Baloch Colony towards Qayyumabad is being diverted below the flyover. Vehicles travelling towards Defence must use an alternative route via Qayyumabad Chowrangi, said the Station Officer of Zaman Town.
