After banning Olympic Gold medalist Arshad Nadeem’s Instagram, as well as other Pakistani artists and celebrities, Narendra Modi has switched his attention to cricket, blocking Pakistani star batters Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan’s social media accounts.
Fans of Babar Azam in India were unable to access his social media account. The crackdown did not stop at Instagram. In addition, YouTube accounts belonging to former cricketers Shoaib Akhtar, Basit Ali, and Shahid Afridi were also withheld in India.
According to reports, these actions were taken on the orders of the Indian government. The move is being seen as part of a broader agenda to control narratives and increase pressure on Pakistan, especially after the Pahalgam attack.
Indian authorities have blamed Pakistan for the incident, despite a lack of concrete evidence, and have used the situation to further stoke anti-Pakistan sentiment among the Indian public.
This development has sparked concern and criticism in Pakistan, with many viewing it as an attempt to silence Pakistani voices and escalate tensions between the two countries.
