New PSL Teams to Come From These Cities

Pakistan Super League (PSL) management has made no secret of its intention to add more franchises in the future, and PSL 11 seems to be when that dream will be realized.

According to local sources, PSL CEO Salman Naseer has confirmed that eight franchises will take part in the competition next year—a significant expansion move that’s been years in the making. Salman Naseer also revealed that Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Sialkot, and Faisalabad are all being considered as potential new homes for the upcoming teams. The final selection is expected to be announced in the coming months, but the wheels for expansion are firmly in motion.

The move to bring in two additional teams has been under discussion for a while, with fan bases in Sialkot and Faisalabad in particular long clamoring for PSL representation. Both cities have a rich cricketing history and passionate support. Faisalabad, once home to the Wolves in the domestic T20 scene, has produced national players like Misbah-ul-Haq, Saeed Ajmal, and Mohammad Hafeez. Sialkot, meanwhile, has been a traditional stronghold for domestic champions and boasts a deep connection with the sport as well.

Hyderabad and Mirpur Khas, though less prominent in recent years, would also mark a bold step toward regional inclusion, particularly in interior Sindh, where opportunities at the highest level remain limited.

From a logistical standpoint, adding two new teams would mean a longer PSL season, more matches, more venues, and more slots for emerging cricketers. While there are challenges involved, including venue readiness and squad depth, the PCB appears confident it can manage the transition smoothly.

As things stand, PSL 10 is already proving to be a tightly contested tournament, with record viewership a sign of its popularity. Expanding the league now, while it’s riding a wave of momentum, could help cement the PSL’s place among the top global T20 leagues.

For fans in Hyderabad, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Mirpur Khas, the wait might finally be over. Come next season, they could be cheering for teams of their own.
