Artificial Intelligence will officially become part of the national curriculum in all UAE government schools starting from the upcoming academic year, as announced by UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), Sheikh Mohammed stated that the UAE Cabinet has approved the final curriculum for the new subject, which will be taught from kindergarten through grade 12. The initiative is part of the UAE’s broader vision to equip students with the skills needed for a rapidly evolving future.
He noted that students will be taught AI from both technical and ethical perspectives, covering key areas such as data, algorithms, practical applications, associated risks, and the impact of AI on daily life. The goal is to ensure that children understand how emerging technologies are reshaping modern societies.
Sheikh Mohammed commended the Ministry of Education for designing the curriculum and stressed the importance of keeping pace with global technological shifts. He emphasized that arming the younger generation with future-ready skills is a national duty critical to the UAE’s sustained development and innovation.
