Pakistan Could Strike India’s Baglihar Dam

India’s run-over-the-river Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project is now on the hit list of the Armed Forces of Pakistan after New Delhi violated the protected structures clause in the Indus Water Treaty when it attacked the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project near Muzaffarabad last night.

Senior journalist Muhammad Malik claimed this while talking to a private news channel in an interview today.

DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project was damaged during recent Indian attacks. “All our actions were purely in self-defense. We will now deliver a devastating retaliatory strike against India for this aggression,” he said.

The timing and location of our counterstrike will be of our choosing. The response will demonstrate Pakistan’s military resolve,” he also said.

In a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on IT & Telecom today, Senator Palwasha Khan specifically called for targeting the Baglihar Dam in retaliation for India’s reported attack on the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project.

The senator added that every dam in India obstructing water to Pakistan must be destroyed to ensure the natural flow resumes in the Ravi, Jhelum, Chenab, Beas, and Indus rivers.
