The School Education Department of the Punjab government has officially debunked a viral notification circulating on social media that claimed all public and private schools in the province would remain closed from May 8 to May 10, 2025.
Taking to Facebook on Tuesday, the department labeled the notice as “Fake News” in bold red text across an image of the forged document, warning the public against believing or spreading misinformation.
The falsified notification, dated May 7, 2025, suggested that schools would be shut for three days while exams conducted by international boards like O-Level and A-Level would continue as scheduled. It also included names and titles of education officials to make it appear legitimate.
Authorities emphasized that no such decision has been made and that any authentic announcements would be made through the department’s official channels.
Parents, students, and school staff are advised to disregard the fake notice and await verified updates directly from the Punjab government’s education department.
