British Council Cancels GCE, IGCSE, IELTS, and University of London Exams

The British Council has announced the cancellation of all scheduled afternoon exams in Lahore for Thursday, 8 May 2025, citing the ongoing security situation in the city.

In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the British Council said that GCE, IGCSE, IELTS, and University of London exams planned for the PM session across all Lahore venues have been called off in coordination with the relevant examination boards.

“This decision has been made to prioritise the safety & security of candidates,” the statement read.

Candidates have been advised to stay updated by regularly checking official British Council pages. Those with questions have been instructed to contact their respective schools. Private candidates are urged to reach out to the British Council’s Customer Services centre for assistance.

The announcement comes amid rising tensions and increased security alerts in Lahore following recent cross-border drone activity and military developments. Authorities have yet to confirm when the exams will be rescheduled.
