In a swift and calculated move to keep the Pakistan Super League 2025 on track, the PCB has decided to relocate all remaining matches of PSL 10 to Karachi, citing heightened security risks due to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
The decision comes as military activity intensifies near Pakistan’s eastern border, leading to fears PSL 10 may be cancelled.
Lahore and Rawalpindi, initially scheduled to host key playoff fixtures, are now deemed high-risk zones. Karachi, with its relatively stable security environment and proven track record of hosting high-profile matches, was the obvious choice.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, made the decision in a high-profile meeting that included all PSL stakeholders.
Franchises have offered full support, though some logistical headaches remain. While a few overseas cricketers have expressed concerns privately, most are expected to stay on, especially with guarantees of closed-door security corridors and military-assisted movement around the city.
Karachi had earlier hosted five PSL 10 games, but was done for the year as far as hosting duties are concerned.
Cricket in Pakistan has always defied the odds—be it pandemics, politics, or pressure from across the border. The decision to continue the tournament, even under extraordinary circumstances, reflects a deeply embedded belief: when the nation is under stress, cricket must endure—not just as entertainment, but as defiance.
