In a move to improve urban mobility and quickly address traffic disruptions, the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has launched a new Traffic Response Unit, designed to respond swiftly to road emergencies and traffic jams across the city.
The initiative, established on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was implemented under the leadership of Chief Traffic Officer Beenish Fatima, according to a CTP spokesperson.
Initially, the Traffic Response Unit has been launched with two operational teams, each comprising 10 motorcycles and 10 traffic wardens. These units have been strategically deployed across high-traffic areas to ensure rapid intervention.
The first unit will cover areas including:
- Misrial Road
- Girja Road
- Tench Bhatta
- Adiala Road
- Chakri Road
The second unit will manage congestion in:
- Civil Lines
- Murree Road
- Saddar
- Raja Bazaar
- Ganj Mandi
- Faizabad
- Sadiqabad
Each motorcycle in the unit is equipped with sirens and public address systems, enabling wardens to quickly reach congested areas and issue real-time traffic instructions. The deployed personnel will remain in constant communication with traffic headquarters, ensuring coordinated responses and timely updates.
