Brothers Kill Father After He Ordered Them to Study

Two brothers were arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of killing their father, reportedly because he pressured them to focus on their studies.

According to Jauharabad Station House Officer (SHO) Rashid Rehman, police stopped the two men during a routine patrol around 3:45 a.m. in Block-15 of F.B Area. The brothers were on a motorcycle and carrying a suspicious-looking bag. Upon inspection, officers discovered the body of a man later identified as 60-year-old Khawar Anjum.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Ibrahim (24) and his younger brother Afzal (21), were immediately taken into custody. During initial questioning, the brothers allegedly confessed to the crime, explaining they were unwilling to continue their education and also refused to return to their family’s farmland in Mirpurkhas, where their father wanted them to work.

They told investigators that they had planned the murder about two weeks earlier. On Tuesday night, after dinner, they reportedly mixed pesticides into a cold drink and gave it to their father. Once he lost consciousness, they fatally stabbed him, placed his body in a sack, and attempted to dispose of it before being intercepted by police.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal procedures. Dr. Summaiya Syed, the police surgeon, confirmed multiple wounds across the body and said the cause of death was excessive bleeding. A rope was also found around the victim’s neck, indicating possible strangulation.

Central Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi stated that investigators had acquired CCTV footage showing three individuals with the body bag and a motorcycle. One man is seen walking the bike with the bag on it, another appears to be helping carry the load, and a third person is seen opening the gate of a seminary from which the group exited.
