A new electric vehicle (EV) charging station has been commissioned at PSO I-8 Markaz, Islamabad, through a collaboration between BYD, Hubco Green Energy, and Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
The newly installed station is located within a PSO service area, offering convenient access for EV users in a high-traffic commercial zone of Islamabad. The project aims to integrate EV support into existing fuel distribution networks, ensuring ease of use for both early and existing adopters of electric vehicles.
The initiative marks another step in expanding charging coverage in major cities, as public and private sector stakeholders collaborate to support the transition to alternative energy transport.
With the addition of the I-8 Markaz unit, BYD now operates charging stations in multiple locations across Pakistan. These include:
Each site has been selected based on usage potential and proximity to high-density residential and commercial areas, in order to maximize accessibility for EV users.
The development aligns with Pakistan’s National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP), which outlines goals for reducing carbon emissions in the transport sector and increasing the share of electric vehicles. The presence of an operational charging network is considered a critical enabler for EV adoption, particularly in urban centers where demand for clean transportation is rising.
