The Punjab government has officially implemented new regulations aimed at improving the process of registering births and deaths across the province.
According to a notification published in the Punjab Gazette, the Local Government Department has put the updated rules into effect. The new framework is designed to make registration procedures easier and more accessible for the public.
Key Features of the New Regulations
- Birth registration will now be completely free for children up to the age of seven.
- Union Council (UC) Secretaries are authorized to register births within the first year of a child’s life.
- For children up to seven years old, the Assistant Director will oversee registration.
- Birth registrations for children aged seven and above will fall under the authority of the relevant Deputy Director.
