Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Meeting Called Next Week to Decide Eid-ul-Adha Date

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that the final decision regarding the date of Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan will be made on May 27, following a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to sight the Zil Hajj moon.

According to the ministry, the committee’s meeting will be held on Monday, May 27 (29th Zul Qadah) at the Kohsar Block in Islamabad. The session will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Meanwhile, zonal committee meetings will take place simultaneously at their respective provincial headquarters across the country to gather local moon sighting reports.

The Ministry stated that if the moon is sighted on May 27, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6. However, if the crescent is not seen, Eid will fall on Saturday, June 7.

On the other hand, astronomical experts have predicted that the Zil Hajj moon is more likely to be visible on May 28, suggesting that Eid-ul-Adha is expected to be observed on June 7 in most parts of the country.

The final announcement will be made after the committee’s deliberations on May 27.
