Islamabad’s Underpass Completed in 35 Days is Now Open for Traffic

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the newly completed Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass, built in a record 35 days. He hailed the project as a nationally beneficial step that will ensure smoother access to the popular tourist destination, Murree.

The underpass, spanning 479 meters with three traffic lanes, is part of the signal-free corridor aimed at easing congestion from Islamabad Airport to Murree. The prime minister praised Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and the broader project team for their swift work.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that the 9-kilometer connectivity stretch will not only serve Rawalpindi and Islamabad residents but will also benefit travelers from across the country heading to Murree.
