Sindh Imposes Super Tax on Farmers

The Sindh government has officially introduced a super tax on agricultural income under the newly passed Sindh Agricultural Income Tax Act 2025, according to the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB).

The new tax structure will take effect from January 1, 2025, and will be collected annually. The super tax targets high-income earners in the agricultural sector, while those making less than Rs. 150 million annually will remain exempt.

Here is the tax breakdown released by the SRB:

  • Rs. 150 million to Rs. 200 million: 1% super tax
  • Rs. 200 million to Rs. 250 million: 2% super tax
  • Rs. 250 million to Rs. 300 million: 3% super tax
  • Rs. 300 million to Rs. 350 million: 4% super tax
  • Rs. 350 million to Rs. 400 million: 6% super tax
  • Rs. 400 million to Rs. 500 million: 8% super tax
  • Over Rs. 500 million: 10% super tax

The SRB confirmed that this initiative aims to ensure that those earning substantial agricultural income contribute a fair share to provincial revenue.
