Punjab Launches Insulin Card for Diabetic Children

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday officially rolled out the “CM Insulin for Diabetes” initiative, a dedicated program aimed at supporting children suffering from type-I congenital diabetes by providing free insulin and related medical supplies.

As part of the launch, the chief minister personally visited the homes of young diabetic patients alongside Pakistan Post riders, where she delivered insulin cards, glucometers, blood sugar test strips, and needles to the children in need.

A Personal Mission for the Chief Minister

During her visit, Maryam Nawaz spoke with families of the beneficiaries, expressing deep empathy for their challenges.
“I truly feel the pain and anxiety these families experience. This program is not just a health initiative—it’s a response to the urgent pleas of parents who cannot afford life-saving medication for their children,” she said.

She emphasized that the initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment under the ‘Sehatmand Punjab’ vision, which prioritizes accessible healthcare for underprivileged children.
“No child should go without insulin because of financial hardship,” she added.

First-of-its-Kind Support for Children

The chief minister noted that, for the first time, children are being supplied with a complete diabetes management kit, including glucometers and testing supplies in addition to insulin.
“Our children are the future, and protecting their health is our top priority,” she stated, warning of the alarming rise in juvenile diabetes.

Door-to-Door Insulin Delivery via Pakistan Post

In a detailed briefing, officials informed the chief minister that the program’s first phase will benefit 1,500 children, who will receive insulin directly at their homes.
Pakistan Post has partnered with the provincial government for the distribution. Trained riders will verify each insulin card using a dedicated mobile application. After verification, a three-month supply of insulin will be handed over to the families.

To ensure the integrity of the medication, insulin will be delivered through Pakistan Post’s cold chain logistics, maintaining appropriate storage conditions during transport.
