The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority (PEIMA) have announced a fixed monthly salary of Rs. 20,000 for teachers working in partner schools, including during summer vacations.
Previously, teachers at these schools were paid between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 8,000 per month, and their salaries were often withheld during summer holidays.
However, the School Education Department has now issued formal instructions to ensure full monthly payments of Rs. 20,000 throughout the vacation period.
The PEF administration will continue to inspect partner schools even during the holidays to monitor compliance. Strict action, including fines or cancellation of partnership, will be taken in cases of delayed or non-payment of salaries.
Partner schools have already been directed to maintain online records of all salary transactions. According to officials, there are over 10,000 PEF and PEIMA partner schools operating across Punjab, employing more than 30,000 teachers on a permanent basis.
The decision aims to provide financial stability to teachers and ensure that their rights are protected, even when schools are closed for extended breaks.
