Punjab Police Conducts Drone Attack on Notorious Gang

Punjab Police carried out an intelligence-based targeted operation against notorious criminals in the Kacha area of Rahim Yar Khan, using drones and advanced weaponry.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the operation was based on intelligence reports and aimed at dismantling the hideouts of notorious criminals who have long operated in the region’s difficult terrain.

During the recent operation, police deployed drones to locate and strike gang hideouts. The drone attack resulted in several gang members being injured and their hideouts destroyed, significantly disrupting the criminal network. The District Police Officer (DPO) of Rahim Yar Khan stated that these intelligence-based operations will continue until the area is fully cleared of criminal elements.

This operation is part of a broader strategy by Punjab Police to modernize their approach to crime control, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas like Kacha. In September 2024, Punjab Police announced plans to acquire heavy-duty drones capable of carrying and deploying 60mm mortar shells, as well as providing real-time surveillance with high-resolution cameras.

The initial plan includes the purchase of 25 such drones, with a budget of Rs. 35 million allocated for the project. The summary for acquiring these drones has been submitted to the Federal Ministry of Interior for approval, and the tender process will begin once the No Objection Certificate (NOC) is granted.
