Govt to Offer Energy-Saving Fans on Easy Monthly Installments

The federal government has decided to provide 70 percent of energy-saving fans to consumers on easy monthly installments, with payments deducted through electricity bills.

The Ministry of Energy said the initiative aims to reduce electricity bills by promoting the use of low-wattage fans that consume nearly half the power of traditional ceiling fans.

The Ministry confirmed that the Rs. 7.41 per unit electricity tariff relief announced by the Prime Minister remains in place.

Energy-saving ceiling fans use only 45-55 watts, compared to conventional fans that consume 80-130 watts. A household using four such fans could save 70 to 80 electricity units per month and cut monthly bills by up to 15 percent.

The Ministry added that provincial governments and federal departments have been directed to strictly implement energy-efficient building codes in all public buildings.

Officials added that a shift to energy-efficient appliances will not only help consumers lower their monthly bills but also support the country during energy crises.
