The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) announced on Sunday that corruption at the I-11 intra-city bus terminal has been uncovered.
According to an official statement, Director DMA Dr. Anum Fatima initiated strict administrative actions after an internal investigation revealed that the terminal had been unlawfully managed by a private contractor in collaboration with some DMA personnel. This illegal operation resulted in an estimated revenue loss of Rs 25 million over the past year, with none of the collected funds being deposited into the DMA’s official account.

In response, the department has launched a formal inquiry against the individuals involved. New staff have been assigned to oversee operations at the terminal. Since the changes, the I-11 terminal is generating an average daily income of Rs60,000, with an estimated monthly revenue of Rs1.8 million now being properly recorded and transferred to the DMA account.
Additionally, the DMA has initiated an upgradation and rehabilitation project for the G-9 bus terminal. The goal is to restore its previous functionality and enhance it with modern travel amenities for Islamabad’s residents.
