Hamza Khan Adds Golden Open Squash Championship to Growing Trophy Collection

Pakistan’s rising squash star Hamza Khan put on a commanding performance to win the Men’s Golden Open Squash Championship, defeating Ka Hei Ho of Hong Kong 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 in straight games in the final held on Sunday.

The 19-year-old, seeded second in the tournament, didn’t drop a single game in the final at the Ray Finlayson Sporting Complex, securing a 3-0 victory to claim the $6,000 PSA Challenger Tour title. Against an opponent who was riding high after his semifinal win against the top seed, Hamza Khan showed his patented control and confidence once more.

He began his campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hong Kong’s Lap Man Au. In the quarter-finals, he faced a brief challenge from Australian wildcard Oscar Curtis, dropping his only game of the tournament but still sealing a 3-1 win (11-8, 10-12, 11-4, 11-2). In the semi-finals, Khan returned to his dominant best, outplaying Hong Kong’s Ming Hong Tang in straight games 11-5, 11-7, 11-4. After his final win against Ka Hei Ho, he capped a week of consistent and high-quality squash from the Pakistani youngster.
