IT Ministry Sets $5.2 Billion IT Export Target for Next Fiscal Year

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has set an ambitious target of $5.2 billion in IT exports for the next fiscal year, the Senate Standing Committee on IT & Telecom was informed during a recent briefing.

Officials noted that Pakistan is expected to achieve $3.8 billion in IT exports by the end of the current fiscal year, provided there are no internet disruptions and adequate budgetary support is maintained.

The committee meeting, chaired by Senator Palwasha Khan, focused on the challenges facing the IT sector, including internet outages, policy inconsistencies, and concerns about the ministry’s performance. Officials from the IT Ministry acknowledged that internet shutdowns had affected the sector, though they stated the impact this year was not severe. They emphasized that future export growth depends heavily on uninterrupted services and timely funding.

  • It’s very hard to predict for minister when nothing in their hand and IT sector managing everything on their own. Even when there was internet restrictions imposed and many IT sector completely lose their clients and minister had sweeping and non technical funny justifications.
