Sale of Low-Quality Fuel Banned in Entire Province

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab has issued a province-wide ban on the sale and use of gasoline and high-speed diesel that do not meet the quality standards set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

According to a new order signed by the EPA Director General Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, all fuel retail outlets in Punjab are now prohibited from storing, selling, or purchasing any type of fuel that fails to comply with OGRA-approved specifications.

The EPA has declared such low-quality fuel as sub-standard and harmful to both people and the environment. The agency also stressed that vehicles operating on Punjab’s roads must use fuel that meets official standards, warning that failure to comply will be treated as a violation.

The order has come into effect immediately and will remain in force until further notice. Any violation will lead to legal action, including penalties under environmental protection rules.

Officials across Punjab, including commissioners, deputy commissioners, and other departments, have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order and raise public awareness about the new rules.
