As of 2025, Pakistani passport holders continue to require a visa to enter the Schengen Area, and new data highlights growing challenges for applicants seeking entry into Europe.
In 2024, Pakistani residents submitted 78,362 Schengen visa applications—a drop of 9.61% from the previous year. This figure accounts for 0.67% of all Schengen visa applications submitted worldwide.
Among all Schengen countries, Austria emerged as the most difficult destination for Pakistani residents. With a rejection rate of 83.55%, it was the least likely to issue a visa.
In 2024 alone, Pakistani residents spent €6,268,960 on Schengen visa applications, out of which €2,811,120 went to rejected applications. Since 2014, the EU has collected €59,859,040 from Pakistani visa applicants.
