Punjab Police is actively pursuing its crackdown against electricity theft across the province. So far this year, a total of 45,928 cases have been registered against individuals involved in power theft.
According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, 30,851 suspects have been arrested in connection with electricity theft throughout the province. Out of the registered cases, 28,126 challans (charge sheets) have been submitted for prosecution. Additionally, 1,977 individuals found guilty of causing financial losses to the state have been sentenced and fined.
In Lahore alone, authorities have registered 11,523 cases and arrested 14,046 suspects related to power theft. Since the start of this anti-theft campaign, more than 213,465 cases have been filed, and over 191,000 individuals have been arrested in Lahore for electricity-related offenses.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered that the crackdown on electricity thieves continue without pause. He emphasized that strict and priority action should be taken against those causing harm to the national treasury.
