Rs. 42.7 Billion Allocated for Green Line BRT Project Karachi

The Federal Government has allocated a combined total of Rs. 42.7 billion for the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Karachi under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2025-26.

According to official documents, the allocations are divided between two major components of the project:

  • Rs. 29.19 billion has been allocated for the continued development of the Green Line BRT project, which was originally approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in 2017.
  • An additional Rs. 13.50 billion has been earmarked for the operational phase of the Green Line BRT, approved by ECNEC in 2020. This includes costs related to fleet operations, maintenance, management systems, and infrastructure support.

The Green Line BRT is a key component of Karachi’s mass transit strategy and provides a reliable, efficient, and affordable public transport solution for the city’s growing population.
