Here is Everything New on iOS 26

Apple has unveiled iOS 26, the company’s most major mobile OS update in recent history. Departing from the previous version numbering (iOS 18), iOS 26 introduces a redesigned interface, new artificial intelligence capabilities, and system-wide enhancements across core applications. The update is scheduled for public release in fall 2025, following an initial rollout to developers and beta testers.

Liquid Glass: A Unified Visual Identity

The new interface, called Liquid Glass, marks a major shift in Apple’s design language. Inspired by visionOS from the Apple Vision Pro, the UI features glass-like surfaces and layered depth effects. On the Lock Screen, dynamic adjustments to the clock and notifications now respond to contextual elements such as photo backgrounds and incoming alerts.

Wallpaper options include spatial scenes that create a subtle 3D effect. Core apps, such as Camera and Photos, have adopted rounded panels and gesture-based interactions, streamlining user navigation. The Photos app also adds a feature to convert standard images into spatial memories with depth, which are viewable in AR with the Vision Pro.

On-Device Intelligence and Search Enhancements

Apple has extended its Visual Intelligence suite to enable direct object-based searches from screenshots. Users can highlight any visible element in the photo and start a search across selected apps and browsers. Event details from images or messages can now be extracted and suggested for calendar use.

The translation tool has also been redesigned. Live Translation is now integrated across Phone, FaceTime, and Messages, offering real-time captions and multilingual audio translation during calls.

Communication Features and Security Controls

The Phone app introduces Call Screening, which prompts unknown callers to state their identity before ringing through. Summarized voicemail previews offer users the ability to triage missed calls without listening to full messages. A new Hold Assist feature notifies users when automated customer service systems connect to a live agent.

In Messages, personalization options include AI-generated backgrounds and new group tools such as built-in polls and Apple Cash transfers. A new on-device filtering system flags and separates potential spam.

Gaming and Car Interface Updates

Apple has launched a dedicated Games app that consolidates Arcade content, multiplayer invites, achievements, and installed games. The app features tabs for Play Together, Library, and upcoming events.
