Major Changes to Pakistan’s West Indies Tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have mutually agreed to scrap the scheduled three-match ODI series during Pakistan’s upcoming tour of the West Indies, replacing it with a five-match T20 International series.

The decision, confirmed by sources on Tuesday, comes as both boards prioritize preparations for the Asia Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup, both set for next year.

Originally, Pakistan was set to play three ODIs in the West Indies at the end of July, following a T20I series against the same opposition in Florida. However, after discussions between the two boards, it was decided that focusing on the T20 format would better serve both teams as they gear up for major international T20 tournaments.

The move mirrors a similar agreement between the PCB and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who recently converted their planned ODI and T20I series into a five-match T20I series for the same reasons.

Officials from both the PCB and CWI emphasized that the change is aimed at maximizing competitive T20 cricket ahead of the upcoming global events. The revised schedule is expected to be announced soon, with venues and dates for the five T20Is to be finalized in coordination with both boards.

This adjustment means there will be no ODIs played during Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies this summer, as both teams shift their focus entirely to the shortest format of the game in preparation for a packed international calendar.
