The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to align the salaries of its police personnel with those of the Punjab Police, a significant move aimed at improving morale and operational effectiveness.
According to sources, the proposal to bring KP police salaries on par with Punjab Police has been included in the upcoming provincial budget. The revision will apply to officers from Grade 1 to Grade 16, ensuring they receive equal pay to their counterparts in Punjab. For officers in Grade 17 and above, the government plans to increase special allowances.
The budget also proposes an allocation of Rs 16 billion to enhance the capacity and resources of police in the tribal districts, reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening law enforcement in sensitive areas.
Speaking to Geo News, Inspector General of Police KP, Zulfiqar Hameed, welcomed the government’s decision. “Bringing KP police salaries in line with Punjab is a commendable step,” he said. “Our police force has been on the frontline in the fight against terrorism, and this recognition will boost their morale.”
He further stated that the additional funds would be used to equip tribal district police with modern weapons and resources, helping to reinforce security and stability in these regions.
