The Motorway Police Central Region has issued a travel advisory to help ensure public safety during the ongoing heatwave.
Spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed urged citizens to take specific precautions before travelling. He advised checking the vehicle’s water and coolant levels, monitoring engine temperature, and ensuring tire pressure is at a safe level.
He also warned against leaving items like lighters, mobile phones, and perfumes inside parked vehicles, as these can pose a fire risk in extreme heat.
The advisory strongly recommends avoiding non-essential travel between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., when temperatures are at their highest. Citizens have also been cautioned not to leave children or elderly family members alone in parked vehicles, even for a short period.
Travelers are encouraged to keep extra drinking water and a first-aid kit in their vehicles. When parking, vehicles should be left in shaded areas, and windows should be slightly opened to reduce heat buildup inside.
The spokesperson further reminded motorists to wear seat belts, follow speed limits, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles during travel.
