Punjab to Establish AI Central Media Monitoring Unit

The Punjab government has decided to establish a Central Media Monitoring Unit powered by Artificial Intelligence. This advanced AI-driven unit will be set up within the Digital Media Wing.

For the upcoming fiscal year, a budget proposal includes an allocation of Rs. 250 million (25 crore) for the creation of this unit. Additionally, Rs. 100 million (10 crore) has been proposed for the Technology Advancement Program.

The budget also outlines several other cultural and infrastructural development initiatives:

  • Rs. 200 million (20 crore) has been proposed for the solarization of the Punjab Council of Arts and other affiliated offices.
  • Rs. 700 million (70 crore) is recommended for upgrading the Alhamra Arts Council on Mall Road and the Cultural Complex.
  • Rs. 50 million (5 crore) is proposed for the renovation and development of the Literary Tea House and Book Warehouse.

Several regional cultural development projects are also included:

  • Projects in the Bahawalpur Arts Council, Bagh-e-Jinnah Air Theatre in Multan, and D.G. Khan are part of the plan.
  • Restoration and construction of the Murree Arts Council have also been included.
  • A new Arts Council in Bhakkar is proposed with an allocation of over Rs. 57.5 million (5 crore 75 lakh).
  • New cultural initiatives are planned for Cholistan, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur.

Additional proposals include:

  • Rs. 50 million (5 crore) for the construction of the Rawalpindi Information Complex.
  • Rs. 93.8 million (9 crore 38 lakh) for the renovation of the Okara Arts Council.
  • Rs. 55 million (5.5 crore) for the Punjab Talent Hunt Program.

And a major allocation of Rs. 1.5 billion (1 arab 50 crore) has been proposed for the construction of a new DGPR Complex building.
