Court Gives Physical Remand of Sana Yousaf’s Killer

A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad granted a four-day physical remand for Umar Hayat, accused of murdering 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf, on Monday. The ruling allows police to further investigate the killing that has shocked Pakistan.

The 17-year-old influencer was shot dead at her Islamabad home on June 2. Hayat, 22, was arrested in Faisalabad within 20 hours, with police recovering the murder weapon and Sana’s phone. He reportedly confessed, citing rejection as his motive.

In court, prosecutors Adnan Ali, Raja Naveed Kiyani, and Mazhar Bashir requested a seven-day remand, but Magistrate Muhammad Hafeez approved four days. The court ordered a medical check-up for Hayat and his return on June 20, 2025. Earlier, he was held in Adiala Jail for an identification parade, which confirmed his identity.

The case has sparked outrage, with calls for justice from celebrities and activists. It highlights the dangers faced by women influencers in Pakistan. Police are gathering more evidence to build a strong case under Section 302 for murder.
