US Embassy in Israel Damaged After Iranian Missile Falls Nearby

The United States (US) Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, reported that a US Embassy branch office in Tel Aviv suffered minor damage due to a nearby Iranian missile strike. The attack was part of a barrage of missiles launched by Iran on Israeli cities early Monday.

The missile strike occurred as Iran retaliated against Israeli airstrikes on its military and nuclear facilities, which began last Friday, June 13. Israel’s attacks killed several high-ranking Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists, prompting Iran to launch over 100 ballistic missiles targeting Tel Aviv, Haifa, and other Israeli cities.

The Israeli military reported that its Iron Dome defense system intercepted many missiles, but some caused damage to buildings and infrastructure, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens across Israel.

Ambassador Huckabee shared the news on X, stating, “Some minor damage from concussions of Iranian missile hits near Embassy Branch in Tel Aviv but no injuries to US personnel.” He explained that the damage was caused by the shockwaves from a missile landing close to the embassy. Huckabee also confirmed that the US Embassy in Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv consulate would remain closed on Monday, with “shelter-in-place” orders still in effect for safety.

Images from Tel Aviv showed destroyed buildings and fires, with emergency services responding to multiple impact sites. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed their missiles disrupted Israel’s air defense systems, though Tehran has not confirmed whether the strike near the US Embassy was intentional. The attack also damaged an oil refinery in Haifa and a power plant, according to reports.

US President Donald Trump has urged Israel and Iran to negotiate a deal to end the violence but acknowledged on Sunday that “sometimes they have to fight it out.” A senior U.S. official revealed that Trump advised Israel against assassinating Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to avoid further escalation.
