Venue for Pakistan vs India World Cup Match Officially Revealed

Pakistan women’s cricket team will officially not travel to India for the Women’s ODI World Cup after their fixture list was revealed. While the World Cup returns to Indian soil for the first time since 2013, Pakistan’s fixtures will unfold entirely at a neutral venue under a specially arranged hybrid model that reflects ongoing political sensitivities between the two nations.

The hybrid agreement—established between the PCB and the BCCI—ensures that Pakistan’s presence in the tournament does not falter despite geopolitical challenges. With India opting not to send its men’s team to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, the PCB responded in kind, declaring its women’s side would not travel to India. As a result, all of Pakistan’s Women’s ODI World Cup fixtures will take place in Colombo, including their clash with bitter rivals India on October 5.

Pakistan’s Women’s ODI World Cup Schedule:

Date Opponent
Oct 2 Bangladesh
Oct 5 India
Oct 8 Australia
Oct 15 England
Oct 18 New Zealand
Oct 21 South Africa
Oct 24 Sri Lanka

Each of these fixtures carries weight, but none more than the October 5 clash against India—a marquee fixture for the tournament and one that will now unfold at a neutral venue, perhaps adding a fresh layer of intrigue to one of the game’s fiercest rivalries.

With eight teams playing in a round-robin format, and the top four advancing to the semi-finals, every match carries significant weight. Pakistan will need to outplay at least four of the six higher-ranked teams they are set to face in order to remain in contention for the knockouts. A top-four finish would see them play the semi-final in Colombo on October 29, as per the ICC’s contingency plan to retain neutrality.

The final is set for November 2, and depending on who qualifies, it too could be staged in Colombo instead of Bengaluru.

Fatima Sana’s side will be confident of upsetting the apple cart against the global big guns after taking the long road to the Women’s ODI World Cup. As the tournament draws closer and their path to glory becomes clearer, the women’s ODI team will be hoping to put their best foot forward.
