Lance Khan, a rising talent in Pakistani baseball and a standout college player in the United States, died following a car accident in Houston on Sunday, June 15. He was 21.
Lance Khan, who represented Pakistan in the 2023 Lincoln Cup, was seen as one of the national program’s brightest prospects as Pakistan’s Baseball Federation fights to bring the sport to national prominence. He played college baseball at the University of St. Thomas and had developed through the ranks of Lamar Little League before making his mark at the collegiate level.
Pakistan Baseball Federation President Fakhar Shah called Khan “one of the brightest talents we had,” paying tribute to a player whose international appearances had sparked optimism about the future of the sport in Pakistan.
Lance Khan’s playing career was marked by both adversity and determination. He had recently overcome a battle with cancer and returned to the field with the same enthusiasm and drive that defined his early years in the game.
The accident that claimed his life also injured one of his longtime friends, who is expected to recover. Tributes have poured in from teammates, coaches, and friends on both sides of the world.
A GoFundMe page has been created to assist the Khan family with funeral and memorial costs.
Khan is survived by his parents, Michelle and Romail, and three older brothers.
