Two of Pakistan’s all-rounders have been picked for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2025). St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have officially signed Muhammad Nawaz, while Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have signed Imad Wasim during the ongoing CPL 2025 draft.
Once regarded as a promising talent for the Pakistan national team, Nawaz has not featured in international matches since 2024. His recent stint with Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) saw him play only four matches, where he struggled to make an impact, managing just a 49-run innings and taking two wickets.
Meanwhile, Nawaz’s teammate, Imad Wasim, who retired from international cricket, had an exceptional PSL 10 season, not only taking 14 wickets but also scoring a crucial fifty in his 11 matches for Islamabad United.
Nawaz, now with the chance to showcase his skills in the CPL, aims to regain his form and contribute effectively to the Patriots. The team, which secured its only CPL title in 2021, is looking to bounce back after finishing at the bottom of the standings last year.
The Patriots will kick off their CPL 2025 campaign against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the opening match on August 14 at the Warner Park Sporting Complex in St Kitts. The tournament is scheduled to run until September 21, providing both Nawaz and Imad with a platform to demonstrate their abilities and potentially earn a recall to the national team.
It is worth noting, pacer Mohammad Amir and spinner Usman Tariq have also been signed by Barbados Royals and Trinbago Knight Riders, respectively. Stay posted for more CPL 2025 draft updates.
