PHA Begins Beautification Work on a Major Road in Rawalpindi

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has initiated a beautification project for Murree Road, focusing on the renovation of metro pillars between Faizabad and Saddar. The project, costing Rs. 160 million, is expected to be completed by the end of next month.

According to PHA Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, work on 22 out of 226 pillars has already been completed, with the section up to Chandani Chowk set for completion by June’s end.

He noted that Karachi Sand has been used for refurbishing, which will preserve the appearance for over ten years.

Warm lights will also be installed to enhance nighttime views. Ranjha said that unsightly advertisements on the pillars have been removed, and green belts along the route are being improved. He added that the entrance to Rawalpindi from Islamabad will be beautified.

In the upcoming financial year, PHA plans to display Quranic verses on city pillars and build a monument featuring Durood Sharif on Rawal Road. Other projects include planting 75,000 saplings on Rawalpindi Ring Road and expanding the Gorakhpur Nursery.

PHA is also working on various recreational and beautification projects in Murree and Rawalpindi to promote a greener, healthier, and more attractive environment.
