Physical Remand of Sana Yousaf’s Killer Extended

A local court in Islamabad has extended the physical remand of the suspect in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf. On Friday, after a four-day remand, police presented the accused, Hayat, before Judicial Magistrate Hafeez Ahmed.

Prosecution representatives, including Adnan Ali, Raja Naveed Hussain, and Mazhar Bashir, requested an extension for further investigation. Prosecutor Raja Naveed informed the court that the vehicle allegedly used in the crime has been recovered, but efforts to retrieve the suspect’s mobile phone are ongoing.

He noted, “The accused is extremely cunning and aware of the severity of his crime, which is why he’s deliberately avoiding the recovery of the mobile phone.” While the prosecution sought a seven-day extension, the court granted a three-day extension, ordering authorities to present Hayat again on June 23.

Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old influencer with over a million followers on TikTok and Instagram, was shot and killed by the 22-year-old suspect after she rejected his advances. The suspect was arrested within 20 hours of the incident.

Her tragic death has sparked widespread grief and outrage, leading to social media campaigns like #JusticeForSanaYousaf and public protests advocating for justice and increased safety for female creators.
