Traffic Plan Announced for Muharram

The City Traffic Police Peshawar has finalized a traffic management plan for Muharram to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety across the city.

According to a press release issued Sunday, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Haroon Rashid Khan has deployed more than 1,000 traffic officers and wardens at key locations. Forklifts and motorcycle riders have also been assigned to assist with traffic flow and manage road blockages.

The CTO directed personnel to inspect the routes of Muharram processions and provide all necessary facilities. Acting on these instructions, traffic officials surveyed procession routes and issued on-the-spot directives to resolve issues raised by various religious groups.

From the 7th to the 10th of Muharram, all roads leading to processions and mourning sites will remain closed to general traffic. However, alternative routes have been arranged to minimize inconvenience for the public and participants.

Haroon Rashid added that officers will make regular visits to Imambargahs in different areas to identify problems and ensure quick resolution. “Immediate action will be taken wherever problems are pointed out,” he assured.
