The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released detailed 2024 statistics from the National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC). According to the report, NTSOC took down over 2,070 phishing websites and malicious mobile apps targeting Pakistani users. In addition, more than 550 cases of leaked Pakistani credentials were detected through dark web surveillance.
The center processed a large volume of cyber threat intelligence over the year. It handled more than 3,200 Indicators of Attack (IoAs) across the telecom ecosystem and issued 3,946 Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) to help identify and neutralize active threats.
NTSOC also carried out over 200 operational security activities throughout the year. These included 3,946 public security advisories through the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and more than 50 private threat advisories issued directly to critical organizations in the private sector. Collaboration with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) played a key role in proactively blocking malicious activity at the network level before it could impact end users.
These extensive efforts were not conducted in isolation. PTA emphasized that a two-way threat intelligence-sharing framework has been established, linking public institutions and private entities for rapid communication and coordinated action.
