The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has announced an increase in scholarships for MPhil and Ph.D. Students. The Ph.D. Scholarship has been raised from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 70,000, and the MPhil scholarship from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month.
This decision was made during a faculty meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of the ICCBS, held at the ICCBS Seminar Room on Tuesday.
In line with the University of Karachi’s advanced degree programs, ICCBS has already opened admissions for its internationally recognized MPhil and Ph.D. programs for the academic year 2025.
Addressing the meeting, Prof. Dr. Raza Shah said that ICCBS is among the few institutions in the country that offer scholarships to all students enrolled in its MPhil and Ph.D. programs. Under the revised policy, MPhil students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000, while Ph.D. students will be awarded a monthly stipend of Rs. 70,000.
He added that the student-friendly policies of the institute, combined with its state-of-the-art research facilities, will motivate higher education students to conduct high-quality research.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for ICCBS announced that interested candidates can download the Admission Prospectus 2025 and fee voucher from: https://uok.edu.pk/admissions/
Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 8,000 at any branch of Bank Alfalah and submit the completed admission form, along with photocopies of academic transcripts and the paid fee voucher, to the ICCBS Academic Coordination Office between June 23 and July 07, 2025.
Successful applicants will be enrolled at the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) or the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry. Admissions are open in a wide range of scientific disciplines, including Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Bio-Organic Chemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular Medicine (covering Molecular and Cellular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Pharmacology, Neuropharmacology, Pathophysiology, Computational Drug Discovery, Structural Biology, Stem Cell Research, and Molecular Pathology).
