Ali Raza Wants the Best of Shoaib, Wasim and Waqar in His Arsenal

Rising fast bowler Ali Raza may be at the start of his journey towards international cricket, but he already knows exactly what kind of bowler he wants to become in order to succeed at the highest level, a perfect blend of three of Pakistan’s greatest fast bowling legends.

Talking to the media during PCB’s Skills Development camp in Lahore, Ali Raza shared the fast bowling skills he dreams of mastering during his cricketing life. “I want Shoaib’s speed, Wasim’s swing, and Waqar’s yorker,” the young quick said—a line that has instantly caught the attention of fans as its an homage to three of the greatest pace bowlers in the history of the game.

Ali Raza, known for his raw pace and aggression, has impressed in domestic cricket and has his eyes set on improving even further, setting the bar sky-high with his words.

Shoaib Akhtar, famously known as the “Rawalpindi Express,” remains the fastest bowler in cricket history. His fiery pace terrified batters across the world, while Wasim Akram, the “Sultan of Swing,” made the cricket ball talk like few others. Waqar Younis, meanwhile, was a master of the toe-crushing yorker and built his reputation on deadly deliveries that left batters stunned.

Ali Raza would do well in his career if he can come close to mastering their skills. At just 17 years old, he has already caught the attention of former greats but still has a while to go before he can make a mark on cricketing history.

For now, Pakistan Shaheens’ tours are his likely destiny, at least for a few years, but the PCB seems to be high on his talent. If he continues to grow and adds even part of what Shoaib, Wasim, and Waqar offered, Pakistan cricket may have another fast-bowling gem in the making.
