The Punjab government has officially approved the production of over 3 million pending vehicle and motorcycle number plates, a long-standing issue that had been unresolved for the past four years.
According to officials from the Excise Department, more than 1.9 million number plates have already been issued over the past two years through the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC). The production of the remaining 1.1 million plates is now set to begin.
Out of these, around 950,000 number plates will be made for motorcycles and 150,000 for cars. The remaining plates will also be delivered to vehicle owners with the help of NRTC.
Officials revealed that billions of rupees had been collected from citizens over the past several years, but due to technical and administrative issues, the plates could not be produced on time.
Last year in April, the government had temporarily suspended the collection of number plate fees due to rising complaints. During this period, citizens were allowed to get number plates made from the open market, provided they matched the approved design.
With the new decision, the government aims to resolve the backlog and ensure timely delivery of number plates across the province.

In USA prisoner make number plate and get paid. Then it’s sent to motor vehicle department. Dealer when they sell a vehicle apply to motor vehicle departments for new plate. It’s sent to dealer and dealer hands it over to buyer.
