Xiaomi has launched the Mix Flip 2, its latest clamshell foldable in the Mix series. While the overall design is not that different from before, the Mix Flip 2 brings notable enhancements in engineering, performance, and usability. There is also a redesigned hinge, upgraded display technology, and higher battery capacity.
The Mix Flip 2 features a compact foldable form factor, and the new hinge mechanism is built around a three-link, four-float plate structure. It allows the device to close with minimal gap and reduces the crease on the internal screen. The outer display has been slightly enlarged and now extends further into the bezels, offering a more seamless interface. The internal folding screen retains its 6.86-inch diagonal size.
Both the inner and outer panels support a 120Hz refresh rate, cover the P3 wide color gamut, and reach a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. Touch responsiveness has also been improved, with the inner screen supporting a 300Hz touch sampling rate and the cover screen reaching 120Hz. The device is available in four finishes: Lattice Gold, Shell White, Nebula Purple, and Plum Green.
Xiaomi has equipped the Mix Flip 2 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which brings upgrades in both performance and thermals over the previous model. The device uses a dual vapor chamber cooling system to manage heat during extended usage, meaning it can likely handle heavy gaming sessions as well.
Memory and storage options include 12GB of RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of storage, and a high-end model featuring 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The Mix Flip 2 uses a customized version of Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, optimized for foldable, made to aid in multitasking and other functions on both screens.
The camera system on the Mix Flip 2 has been reconfigured, moving away from the earlier dual-lens zoom approach. The new setup includes a 50MP wide-angle camera with a 1/1.55-inch OV50E sensor and an f/1.7 aperture. The second module is a 14mm 50MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, autofocus, and the ability to capture macro images at distances as close as 5cm.
On the front, the device features a 32MP selfie camera that supports 4K video recording, enabling high-resolution capture for video calls and social content.
The Mix Flip 2 is powered by a 5,165 mAh battery, an upgrade from the previous generation’s 4,780 mAh unit. It supports 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Pricing for the device begins at $836 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 12GB + 512GB model is priced at $906, while the top-tier 16GB + 1TB option is available for $1000. Each retail package includes a USB-C cable, a 67W charger, and a two-piece protective case.
