Pakistan’s Vice-Captain Faces Long Layoff After Shoulder Setback

Pakistan’s cricket team has been dealt a fresh blow as Shadab Khan is likely to miss several months of action due to a shoulder injury.

According to Sohail Imran, the experienced all-rounder has been struggling with pain in his right shoulder for some time. After medical checks, doctors have advised surgery to fix the problem. Shadab Khan is expected to travel to the United Kingdom soon to undergo the procedure.

If all goes as planned, the vice-captain of Pakistan’s T20I team will be out of cricket for around three months while he recovers and completes rehabilitation.

The timing of Shadab Khan’s injury is far from ideal for Pakistan, who are about to begin a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh later this month. With other big names like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi likely to miss out as well, this latest setback leaves the squad with even more gaps to fill.

Shadab Khan’s absence seems to be the reason why the PCB is set to recall Sufiyan Muqeem to the team.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Bangladesh tour are moving ahead without Shadab Khan. The squad is expected to be announced later this week, and sources say no major surprises are likely. Players will start their training camp on July 7 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi to gear up for the series. The team is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on July 16, with matches set for July 20, 22, and 24 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan last played Bangladesh in May, when they completed a clean 3-0 sweep at home. But with injuries and missing stars, this upcoming trip promises to test the squad’s depth and resilience.

For Shadab Khan, the focus will now be on getting his shoulder right and working toward a full recovery in time for the Asia Cup in September and the T20 World Cup next year.
