A severe shortage of essential medicines and medical supplies has disrupted operations at Karachi’s Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
According to hospital sources, the facility has run out of critical injections, including those required for endoscopy procedures, as well as vitamin K, insulin syringes, and cannulas.
The shortage has forced the postponement of several scheduled surgeries and procedures, leaving patients and their families in distress.
Medical staff report that the lack of life-saving medicines is hampering routine care and emergency interventions.
However, the hospital administration has denied that operations have been postponed, stating that medicines are available and that the supply of additional drugs is expected once the new fiscal year’s budget is released.
The administration maintains that patient care is continuing as normal, despite reports from within the hospital suggesting otherwise.
The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, previously known as RAF Hospital No. 10, Pakistan Central Hospital, and Jinnah Central Hospital, is a public healthcare institution situated on Rafiqui Shaheed Road in the Karachi Cantonment area, Sindh.
