The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is moving ahead with a series of major airport projects in three cities.
According to official sources, new airports are planned for Mirpur (Azad Kashmir), Dera Ismail Khan, and Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the Sukkur Airport will undergo a complete reconstruction to serve as a regional hub for Sindh’s northern belt.
The feasibility study for the Mirpur airport is nearing completion, and land acquisition is already underway for the new Dera Ismail Khan airport.
This project is expected to address long-standing connectivity issues in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and nearby areas.
In Hyderabad, authorities have been directed to resume commercial flight operations and establish an aviation training school to support skill development in the sector.
The PAA has also briefed the National Assembly on plans to reconstruct Sukkur Airport, aiming to transform it into a key facility for the region.
These projects are part of a broader strategy to expand and upgrade Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure, with international consultants from Japan and Switzerland involved in the design and planning phases.
What about Dera Ghazi Khan? They have an older Airport than the other three but no support from Shareefs and Zardarees
Dear agreed to you, though I am living near capital islamabad, but I wish to make dera ghazi khan the capital of Pakistan, because of its location as it’s connected to all four provinces of Pakistan. Ultimately, an international airport would be there too.
Is there any news regarding Swat Airport being closed for more than 18 years?
Must be proceeded for this on early basis, it would be great contribution for tourism in that area, local communities will be supported as well.
