The Competition Appellate Tribunal (CAT) has upheld the findings of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) against At-Tahur (Pvt.) Limited, the processors and marketers of Prema Milk, for engaging in deceptive marketing practices in violation of Section 10 of the Competition Act, 2010.
The case originated from a complaint filed by the Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA), alleging that PREMA disseminated misleading claims on social media after the Supreme Court’s 2016 judgment on milk quality. Prema’s marketing campaign implied that all other dairy products, except Prema’s, were unfit for human consumption—an assertion found to lack reasonable basis and capable of harming competitors’ business interests.
Following an inquiry, CCP concluded that the company had violated Section 10(1), read with Section 10(2)(a), (b), and (c) of the Act. It imposed a penalty of Rs. 35 million and directed Prema to issue a public clarification about its misleading claims.
While upholding CCP’s findings, CAT observed that the penalty amount is excessive and reduced the fine from Rs. 35 million to Rs. 5 million.

Ok good. However, I have commented here a dozen times that here in this country, 250 million are deceptive.
You should stop being deceptive
Very true, this CCP is sleeping since it was formed. Every product just name one it will have problems, all financial products, insurance, FMCG, cement, sugar, steel, pharmaceutical etc etc. they have pricing issues, marketing deception and quality every thing is miserable. Spineless CCP do not respond to such problems as they are corrupt to core and incapable.
This decision shows that institutes are working they are not incapable rather we consumers are spinless creatures, we do not bother and never resist on wrong doings. We accept corrupt and deception as system defaults….
If we will resist things will start going on track
This fine was imposed by CCP Mr Junaid. Please look at the past two year performance of CCP. Tjis int the old CCP anymore
Good decision
Well, the public is dubious about the health safety associated with milk products like Olper. But there still is no one who could do a fair test of various milk products and publicize the quality of each.
