Dozens of Buildings Declared Unsafe in Lahore

With the onset of the monsoon season, a recent report has revealed the presence of 84 structurally unsafe buildings across Lahore, raising serious safety concerns.

According to the report, there are 69 privately owned unsafe buildings and 15 hazardous government structures within the city. Of these, 68 are being used for residential purposes, while 16 are designated for industrial use.

Out of the total, 32 buildings have been deemed beyond repair and pose a significant danger, while 31 are in a dilapidated condition but considered repairable. Notably, 53 of the unsafe buildings are currently occupied.

The report also states that 18 of these structures are vacant, whereas 20 dangerous buildings are currently being used as rental properties.

There are 46 hazardous buildings under private ownership. First notices have been issued for 39 buildings, instructing owners or occupants to vacate the premises. Additionally, second notices have been sent out for 28 high-risk properties. Public awareness campaigns, including newspaper advertisements, have also been launched to inform citizens about the dangers.
