The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an urgent weather alert for the next 6 to 12 hours, warning of intense rainfall and strong winds across various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
According to the alert, districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Bannu, Buner, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, and Waziristan are likely to experience heavy downpours.
The same weather system is also expected to affect parts of Punjab and the federal capital.
In Punjab, cities such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Lahore, Hafizabad, Narowal, Kasur, and Layyah are forecast to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
NDMA has warned of potential risks during this period, including the falling of trees, power outages, damage to weak structures, and reduced visibility leading to traffic accidents.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay clear of trees and fragile infrastructure, and follow updates from local authorities. The public is also urged to remain informed about the evolving weather situation and take precautionary measures to ensure their safety.
